Our Time is designed for
children 1½ years to 3 1/2 years of age. Along with an accompanying parent
or caregiver, children meet weekly for a 45-minute class and enjoy
singing, moving, listening, interacting socially, and playing simple
instruments.
I think Kindermusik has been an awesome program
for us to belong to. Even though I would have read with Anna and
sang with her regardless, I think it encourages even more of those
things plus the At Home Materials are wonderful. Of all the toys,
books, and music, my daughter has, she has always preferred the
ones from Kindermusik. It has also been great for her socially;
she interacts with other children really well, and obviously loves going
to class. She has even sung with Luanne a few times on key at only
9 or 10 months old. We think the world of Kindermusik is great and
highly recommend it to all children. I think it has had so many
positive affects on my daughter's development. Jennifer

Exploration Time encourages a child’s discovery of
specially designed instruments, textures, sounds and movements; language
skills are fostered with singing, sound imitation and vocal play; Music
& Movement Story Time encourages emergent literacy skills; and creative
dancing affirms a child’s urge to move. Kindermusik Our Time
uses music to encourage early creativity and learning. Music is the means of
Kindermusik, not the goal. The goal is a
more alive, creative, and able child. The creative experience
continues at home all week long through the use of the At Home
Materials.
The Kindermusik
Experience
Kindermusik can help
to reverse the negative effects of TV, video games and mechanical toys
to give your child tools to stimulate lifelong creativity. Play is
a natural activity. The child at play is self-motivated and actively
engaged. TV, video games and mechanical toys are restrictive as
the child is forced to follow specific rules or to be passively
involved, thus stifling creativity. Play provides freedom from
evaluation and judgment. The freedom of a playful atmosphere
fosters intellectual development as well as the development of the
personality. Kindermusik Our Time recognizes the need for
learning through play and incorporates play into Exploration Time, Music
and Movement Story Time, and Vocal Play. In class, your child will
play with you and each other, and with the teacher through use of props,
voices and body movement.
This class has been great. Even when Hailey
didn't participate, she still took home so much--we sang the whole way
home every time. I especially enjoyed watching Hailey interact.
She loves the rubber stamps at the end of class. At home, she will
sit with her stamps and sing good-bye to all her little friends in class
as she stamps herself! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience.

Why Music?
In Kindermusik Our Time,
your child can learn that making music can be as normal and instinctive
as breathing. We are all born with our own, musical instrument and
our very own way of "playing" it. The voice is as musical as any
orchestral instrument, and arguably more powerful, because it conveys
our identity to others. Our Time encourages your child's
musical instincts and promotes basic musical skills. This begins
the process of learning to think musically, an intrinsic part of musical
development best learned in early
childhood.
Jasmine enjoys Kindermusik and is learning so
much. Although she usually doesn't show it in class, the movements
and the songs are sinking in. One day she randomly said"aha, me
boys," and then started rocking back and forth saying "Luke boat" from
the Lukey's Boat song. She also flips through the Pete and PJ book
and says "wishy washy WEE!!!!" with hand motions and a high-pitched
"wee" at the end. She enjoys the At Home CD's and insists we
listen to them whenever we're in the car. Susan (2 year old
daughter)
The child's early years are
optimal for exposure to a rich variety of music which helps your child
become more aware, alert and sensitive--not only to music but to his/her
total environment. Through research, we know that children absorb
things around them--including music beginning at the moment of birth.
By filling the spaces of your child's day with music, passive and
active, you are teaching him/her the many roles that music can play.
Music can help him/her relax, cope with feelings, celebrate, create and
express beyond verbal capabilities.
Trey is now trying to snap his
fingers when he hears music and sometimes he just starts snapping and
dancing on his own. He is also naming actions like "rolling" toys or
"spinning" as he dances, "hop" when he jumps. Socially, I love to see
him relate to the other people and he loves to give hugs. Tia (2 year
old son)
